New Mexico's redistricting was generally handled by the courts. The governor vetoed the House of Representatives, Senate and Public Regulation Commission redistricting plans approved by the Legislature, and the Legislature did not approve a congressional redistricting plan. Various documents related to the redistricting litigation, including plans offered to the court, are posted on this site.

The Legislature met in special session from September 6 through September 24 to consider, among other issues, how to redraw the state's political districts. The special session followed a series of public hearings held by the Redistricting Committee, during which public comment was solicited on a series of redistricting plans developed as starting points in the process. Check the committee page for meetings minutes, handouts and video of the meetings.
The Guide to Redistricting in New Mexico provides basic information and historical context to the process and the Redistricting Guidelines adopted by the New Mexico Legislative Council set the ground rules for the 2011 process.
