SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
House Bill Seven appropriates $1 million to the State Department of Education (SDE) for the purpose of providing funds to school districts that submit proposals for innovative plans to curb school violence.
Significant Issues
SDE shall put out a request for proposals to the districts by July 15, 1999 and shall award funding by October 1, 1999. The department may fully or partially fund proposals and may fund two-year projects. Capital outlay requests may only be approved as integral parts of acceptable violence prevention plans.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
House Bill Seven appropriates $1 million in recurring general funds. Unencumbered or unexpended balances remaining at the end of FY2001 shall revert to the general fund.
