Mr. President:

Your EDUCATION COMMITTEE, to whom has been referred

has had it under consideration and reports same with recommendation that it DO PASS, amended as follows:

1. On page 1, line 12, strike "INSTALL HAND GEOMETRY IDENTIFICATION" and insert in lieu thereof "IMPROVE SECURITY".

2. On page 1, lines 16 and 17, strike "Two hundred fifty thousand dollars ($250,000)" and insert in lieu thereof "Five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000)".

3. On page 1, line 19, strike "year" and insert in lieu thereof "years 1999 and".

4. On page 1, line 20, after "to" strike the remainder of the line and insert in lieu thereof "make improvements to security systems that may include hand geometry identification systems or metal detectors".,

and further recommends that it now be referred to the FINANCE COMMITTEE.
