A MEMORIAL

RECOGNIZING AND HONORING RABBI LEONARD HELMAN FOR HIS DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY.



WHEREAS, Rabbi Leonard Helman has been the spiritual leader of Congregation Beit Tikva in Santa Fe since its formation in 1995; and

WHEREAS, he is a popular fellow in the community, with people stopping him on the street to tell a joke, ask him about a legal procedure or check on his standing in the latest bridge tournament; and

WHEREAS, he is frequently seen at St. Vincent's Hospital, visiting and comforting ailing congregants, friends and acquaintances; and

WHEREAS, he has officiated at numerous joyous events, such as bar and bat mitzvahs and weddings as well as more sobering events such as funerals and memorial services; and

WHEREAS, he has delivered many prayers and invocations for the legislature, has served as a New Mexico state judge and chaplain to the state legislature; and

WHEREAS, he is ever the poised cleric, inspiring us with his uplifting sermons and his understated dignity;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that recognition be extended to Rabbi Leonard Helman for his dedicated service to the spiritual life of the community of Santa Fe and to the state of New

Mexico.
