PROPOSING AN AMENDMENT TO ARTICLE 2, SECTION 6 OF THE CONSTITUTION OF NEW MEXICO TO PERMIT THE CARRYING OF CONCEALED WEAPONS.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
Section 1. It is proposed to amend Article 2, Section 6 of the constitution of New Mexico to read:
"No law shall abridge the right of the citizen to keep
and bear arms for security and defense, for lawful hunting and
recreational use and for other lawful purposes [but nothing
herein shall be held to permit the carrying of concealed
weapons]. No municipality or county shall regulate, in any
way, an incident of the right to keep and bear arms."
Section 2. The amendment proposed by this resolution shall be submitted to the people for their approval or rejection at the next general election or at any special election prior to that date which may be called for that purpose.
