44TH LEGISLATURE - STATE OF NEW MEXICO - FIRST SESSION, 1999
REQUESTING CONGRESS TO FUND THE CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW CAMPUS FOR THE NAVAJO PREP SCHOOL IN FARMINGTON.
WHEREAS, the Navajo preparatory school in Farmington was built between 1912 and 1955; and
WHEREAS, one hundred ninety-five gifted and talented students now attend the school, and ninety-five percent graduate to college attendance each year; and
WHEREAS, many more Navajo students wish to attend the Navajo prep school, and the Navajo Nation plans to rebuild the campus and expand enrollment to three hundred;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the United States congress be requested to support the Navajo Nation in constructing a new Navajo prep school campus in Farmington; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to the New Mexico congressional delegation.
