RECOGNIZING LUCY BRUBAKER FOR HER CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO.
WHEREAS, Lucy Brubaker served as the Valencia county clerk from 1968 to 1971, the Valencia county assessor from 1973 to 1976 and the Valencia county treasurer from 1979 to 1982; and
WHEREAS, she became the first woman state senator from Valencia county in 1982; and
WHEREAS, she served on the state racing commission during Governor Bruce King's first administration; and
WHEREAS, she has been active in many political campaigns and government service programs, serving as a delegate to the 1976 democratic convention, lending significant support to many efforts and earning the nickname "workhorse for the democratic party in her flamboyant style"; and
WHEREAS, she is a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic church, the Catholic daughters of America, the pilot club international women of the moose and the democratic party;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that Lucy Brubaker be recognized and congratulated for her dedication to the state and her community; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to Lucy Brubaker.
