44TH LEGISLATURE - STATE OF NEW MEXICO - FIRST SESSION, 1999

REQUESTING THE NEW MEXICO LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL TO DIRECT THE APPROPRIATE INTERIM LEGISLATIVE COMMITTEES TO STUDY THE MORTGAGE INDUSTRY.

WHEREAS, many New Mexicans are affected by the mortgage industry when they make large purchases; and

WHEREAS, the legislature should examine how to ensure that applicants for mortgages are treated fairly; and

WHEREAS, the legislature should study how to improve the application process for obtaining mortgages;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the New Mexico legislative council be requested to direct the appropriate interim legislative committees to study the mortgage industry; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to the members of the New Mexico legislative council.
