ENCOURAGING EXCELLENCE AND COMPASSION IN THE CARE OF PATIENTS WHO HAVE CHRONIC CONDITIONS AND FOR THOSE WHO ARE AT THE END OF THEIR LIVES.
WHEREAS, patients and their families in New Mexico too often face pain, suffering and misunderstanding brought on by chronic and fatal illnesses; and
WHEREAS, patients and their families can be helped by a wide range of options and treatments to improve quality of life and end-of-life care;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that it encourage public and professional discussions and education about excellence and compassion in the care of patients with chronic conditions and for those who are at the end of their lives; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this memorial be transmitted to the secretary of health for appropriate distribution to health professionals and health facilities.
