SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
The memorial recognizes the contributions of several organizations to rural community and economic development. It resolves that the New Mexico Senate declare March 16, 1999 "Stand Up for Rural New Mexico Day," to celebrate the accomplishments of community developers, to recognize the need for more private and public support for their efforts and call on the federal government, banks and philanthropies to invest more resources in helping the groups in their efforts. It also resolves that t he New Mexico legislature support federal funding of the United States Department of Agriculture's Section 525 rural community development initiative to provide capacity building funds to nonprofit organizations in rural community development.
