SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
The joint memorial requests the Legislative Council to study ways to eliminate the costly and wasteful practice of duplicate bill introductions and to study alternative means to show sponsorship.
Significant Issues
The joint memorial refers to the high number of bills introduced this year and that the number of intentionally duplicate bills have increased greatly over the last several years, sometimes so that members of each house may be shown as sponsors of legislation.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The cost of the study will presumably be paid from the legislative interim expense appropriation contained in the feed bill.
ADMINISTRATIVE IMPLICATIONS
Legislative Council Service staff will be required to provide support for the study.
