Synopsis of Bill
Senate Joint Memorial 24 requests the Department of Health in cooperation with the Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Persons develop a factual assessment of the current newborn hearing screening practices throughout New Mexico.
Significant Issues
Significant numbers of children are born each year with undetected hearing losses that will have the effect of causing significant developmental delays. New Mexico has a responsibility to provide every means possible to insure the healthy growth of all our children.
