SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
The concurrent resolution amends Legislative Joint Rule 9-1 pertaining to schedule for enacting the general appropriation bill. The resolution would require, for a 60-day session, final passage in the house of origin by 35th calendar day, five days earlier than the current rule requires.
Significant Issues
For a 60-day session, the current joint rule requires final passage in the house of origin by the 40th calendar day, final passage in the second house by the 50th calendar day and transmittal to the governor by the 54th calendar day. Amendment of the rule would allow the second house 15 days, 5 more than under the current rule, to deliberate on the bill.
For a 30-day session, the current joint rule requires final passage in the house of origin by the 16th calendar day, final passage in the second house by the 21st calendar day and transmittal to the governor by the 24th calendar day.
