SUMMARY

Synopsis of Bill

Senate Bill 600 appropriates $25.0 from the general fund to fund two part-time bus driver positions for the Gallup, North-Side Senior Center in McKinley County.

Significant Issues

According to the Agency, these positions would be necessary to adequately transport senior citizens to the North Side Senior Center in Gallup for a nutritious meal five days a week. The individuals would work twenty (20) hours per week, driving senior citizens to and from the senior center and other senior related activities.

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS

The bill appropriates $25.0 from the general fund for expenditure in fiscal year 2000. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2000 will revert to the general fund.

ADMINISTRATIVE IMPLICATIONS

The funds would be appropriated to the State Agency on Aging to be contracted with the North Central New Mexico Area Agency on Aging (NCNMAAA). The NCNMAAA would in turn contract with McKinley County Seniors, Inc. to carry out the necessary services.

CONFLICT/DUPLICATION/COMPANIONSHIP/RELATIONSHIP

These funds are not included in the Aging Network's Legislative Request Package contained in House Bill 358.
