SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
Senate Bill 470 appropriates $350.0 from the general fund to the Human Services Department
to contract with the Navajo Nation to provide child support enforcement services.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The FY99 operating budget for the Navajo Nation child support enforcement contract is $882.4, which includes $300.0 in general fund appropriations. SB 2 recommends the same funding level for FY2000. SB 470 will increase FY2000 funding for the Navajo Nation child support enforcement program by $1,029.4 for a total of $1,911.8.
CONFLICT/DUPLICATION/COMPANIONSHIP/RELATIONSHIP
SB 2 includes $882.4 in the contractual services line-item to support the Navajo Nation child support enforcement program. However, there is no specific language requiring the funds be spent as such. Thus, SB 470 will ensure a minimum of $1,209.4 will be used for this program.
