SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
Senate Bill 311 appropriates 100.0 from the general fund to the Department of Health for FY 2000 for the purpose of contracting for services for persons with the human immunodeficiency virus, including advocacy, coordination, prevention, and information and referral services.
Significant Issues
Although the incidence of HIV in New Mexico does not show the same levels as in the recent past, it is still extremely important to maintain the efforts started in prevention, education and advocacy that have been going on for some years.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The Department of Health has a strong financial control unit that is able to administer the fiscal aspects of the appropriation.
ADMINISTRATIVE IMPLICATIONS
Administration of these monies is within the budgeted capacity of this department.
