SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
The bill appropriates money for a district office and staff for each legislator. The Legislative Council is required to develop policies, procedures and limitations regarding the use of the expenditures by the Legislative Council Service on behalf of members.
Significant Issues
Members of the legislature have expressed a need for constituent services out in their districts. Currently, the chief clerks of the respective houses provide those services.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The bill appropriates $1,330.0, $15.0 for each senator and $10.0 for each representative, from the general fund for expenditure in fiscal year 2000. Unexpended and unencumbered balances remaining at the end of fiscal year 2000 shall revert to the general fund.
