Synopsis of Senate Floor Amendment #1



The Senate amended Senate Bill 97 to change the word "shall" to "may." This amendment still directs the State Department of Public Education to establish a work program for participants of the New Mexico Works Act, but no longer requires it.

Senate Bill 97 adds a new section to the New Mexico Works Act (Act) that directs the State Department of Public Education to establish a work program for participants of the Act.



ADMINISTRATIVE IMPLICATIONS



The State Department of Public Education and the Human Services Department will need to coordinate efforts to establish the policies and procedures for this program.
