SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
This bill appropriates $300.0 to the Board of Regents of the New Mexico State University for the purpose of increasing women's sports activities to comply with Title 9 of the federal Education Amendments of 1972.
Significant Issues
According to the CHE, 1999-2000 will be the 8th year of NMSU's gender equity plan. The funding provided in this bill will be used to address gender equity operating issues such as increased equipment and supply needs, additional team travel expenses and upgrading coaches salaries. NMSU ranked this project 6th of eleven special project requests.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The appropriation of $300.0 contained in this bill is a recurring expense to the general fund. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of FY00 shall revert to the general fund.
