SUMMARY



Synopsis of Bill



House Joint Resolution 22 proposes to amend Article 5, Section 3 of the Constitution of New Mexico to change the qualifications for office of the State Auditor and the office of the State Treasurer. The bill would specifically require the State Auditor to be a certified public accountant and the State Treasurer to be a graduate of a four-year college, have a bachelor's degree; and have earned 20 credit hours in business or finance classes. The qualification changes would become effective beginning January 1, 2002.
