SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
The memorial acknowledges the contributions of small manufacturers to the national economy as well as the role of New Mexico's Industry Network Corporation in supporting small manufacturers in New Mexico. It notes that the U.S. Secretary of Commerce has declared 1999 to be the year of the small manufacturer. It resolves that the New Mexico legislature recognize New Mexico's small manufacturers and request that the governor proclaim 1999 the year of the small manufacturer in New Mexico.
Significant Issues
According to EDD, often it is the larger manufacturers who receive recognition in the national spotlight and in New Mexico for their role in job creation and investment. This memorial highlights New Mexico's appreciation of small manufacturers and reiterates their importance in generating jobs and valuable contribution to state investment and the gross state product.
