SUMMARY

Synopsis of HFl Amendment #1

The House Floor amendment asks PCD to "actively pursue" rather than "explore" the purchase of the buildings listed in the memorial. It also expands the list of buildings to be purchased to include "other property in Santa Fe determined by the Capitol Buildings Planning Commission to be appropriate for capitol complex purchase." The amendment also corrects spelling errors in the original bill.

Synopsis of Bill

The memorial asks the PCD to explore purchase of the Public Employees Retirement Association and National Education Association Buildings, two residences on Don Gaspar near the central capital complex, and the unoccupied facilities at Budaghers on Interstate 25 between Santa Fe and Albuquerque. The memorial also asks PCD to report its progress to the Capitol Buildings Planning Commission (CBPC). The memorial would be conveyed to PCD and CBPC.

Significant Issues

According to PCD, the members of the PBPC encourage collocation of state offices to provide better service delivery to customers of state government and have been working in that direction in recent years.

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS

According to PCD, the state could save more than $8 million annually in recurring expenses for rent with the passage of this memorial.

ADMINISTRATIVE IMPLICATIONS

The memorial could reduce the workload of PCD for processing and administering leases, according to that agency.
