SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
House Bill 859 appropriates 1,250.0 from the general fund to the Department of Health for expenditure in FY 2000 for the purpose of contracting for services and programs for persons who do not meet the medicaid medical eligibility criteria or who need services not provided by medicaid or other state funded programs.
Significant Issues
There is a large number of individuals that do not fit into the eligibility criteria of any program but who nevertheless are in need of services. Appropriation of these monies will assist these individuals and will provide seriously needed services.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The Department of Health has an extensive fiscal monitoring and control system that will accommodate the management of these funds.
ADMINISTRATIVE IMPLICATIONS
Administration of these monies is within the budgeted capacity of this department.
