State Auditor
SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
House Bill 852 amends the Audit Act to add "metropolitan courts" and "New Mexico associations or organizations that receive or expend public money from whatever source derived, including the Municipal League, the Association of Counties, the school administrators association and school boards association" to the definition of agency; and makes technical corrections.
ADMINISTRATIVE IMPLICATIONS
According to the State Auditor, there would be minimal impact to the Office of the State Auditor as a result of the new entities added to the definition of agency under the Audit Act, which requires the State Auditor to approve the auditor selected to conduct an agency's audit. In turn the Office of the State Auditor is responsible for reviewing the audit work of the selected auditor.
