SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
HB 715 appropriates $15.0 in general funds to the NMVSC to study the cost and feasibility of establishing a state veterans' cemetery at Fort Stanton. The bill requires the cooperation of the General Services Department (GSD) along with the NMVSC to produce a study to be submitted to the Legislature by December 1, 1999.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
According to the NMVSC, the appropriation is sufficient to cover the agency's associated costs.
CONSEQUENCES OF NOT ENACTING THIS BILL
The NMVSC believes the state could lose a valuable opportunity to obtain federal funding for a veterans' cemetery, because federal funding could dry up.
