SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
House Bill 699 appropriates $2,000.0 to the Department of Health for expenditure in FY 2000 for the purpose of providing statewide services for persons with the human immunodeficiency virus in the following amounts: $300.0 to provide medication adherence case management; $700.0 to develop a statewide rural public health care system for persons with the virus; $300.0 to provide public information and services to New Mexico youth with the virus; $700.0 to provide supplemental prevention information and services for women and minority populations.
Significant Issues
Reduction in the incidence of this disease depends on patients adhering to their medication and on youth and others being continually educated on the dynamics of this disease including the necessity of prevention and the proper preventative modalities.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The Department of Health has the proper fiscal and contracting structure to properly account for these monies.
ADMINISTRATIVE IMPLICATIONS
Administration of these monies is within the budgeted capacity of the department.
