SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
House Bill 693 would make a $100.0 general fund appropriation to the Manufactured Housing Division of the Regulation and Licensing Division (RLD) to conduct field inspections of manufactured homes. The end-of-the-year balance would revert to the general fund.
FISCAL IMPACT
House Bill 693 does not indicate in what manner the $100.0 appropriation would be spent, e.g., for overtime for existing inspectors, to hire more inspectors, or to contract with independent inspectors. If the intention of the Legislature is for the funding to be used to hire additional FTE, then this legislation would become a recurring expenditure. This division currently employs nine inspectors.
