Synopsis of HJC Amendment



House Judiciary Committee amendment to House Bill 646 strikes the word"pursuant" on page 1, line 22, and all of line 23 and inserts language to now mean, "brought alleging violations of that section shall".



Synopsis of Bill



House Bill 646 requires that the provisions of the act shall apply to genetic analysis performed and genetic information and gene products obtained after May 20,1998 except that Section 24-21-4 NMSA 1978 and proceedings pursuant to alleged violations of the Genetic Information Privacy Act apply to genetic analysis whenever performed and genetic information and gene products whenever obtained.



Significant Issues



This bill corrects the applicability of certain provisions of the Genetic Information Privacy Act.
