SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
House Bill 570 appropriates $235.0 in recurring general fund for FY2000 to the Bernalillo County Metropolitan Court to create a new judgeship.
Significant Issues
The new judge would be appointed by the governor effective July 1, 1999 and shall serve until succeeded in the general election of 2000.
House bill 570 does not include resources for the District Attorney and Public Defenders, whose workloads may be impacted by the creation of a new judgeship.
