SUMMARY
Synopsis of HLC Amendment
The House Labor and Human Resources committee amendment changes the appropriation from SDE to DVR.
Synopsis of Bill
House Bill 553 appropriates $100.0 to DVR for the purchase of assistive technology devices that will be loaned to students with disabilities that are making the transition from public school to employment or independent living.
Significant Issues
DVR indicates that assistive technology devices are loaned to assist disabled students to work or live independently. Once it is determined which specific device(s) would best serve the student, they purchases the proper equipment and the loaned devices are returned to a loan-bank to be used by others.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
This bill appropriates $100.0 to DVR for expenditure in fiscal year 2000. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2000 shall revert to the general fund.
ADMINISTRATIVE IMPLICATIONS
DVR indicates that passage of this bill would have minimal impact on administrative costs for the agency.
