SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
House Bill 345 amends the Incentives for School Improvement Act to allow money distributed to school districts pursuant to the act, to be used to purchase supplies and materials for classrooms.
Significant Issues
The Incentives for School Improvement Act provides financial incentives to individual schools that exceed expected academic performance. The act specifically prohibits funds to be used for salaries, salary increases or bonuses for school personnel. Pursuant to the act, money received by a school shall be expended as determined by the school principal and teachers in cooperation with other school employees and the community. Currently, the act does not prohibit schools from using the funds to purchase supplies and materials for classrooms.
