SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
House Bill 335 appropriates 2,000.0 in general fund to the Department of Health for expenditure in FY 2000 for the purpose of providing substance and mental health treatment services to participants as provided in the New Mexico Works Act.
Significant Issues
One of the most serious problems facing the state and it's need to place people in meaningful jobs is the fact that many of the hard to place individuals have significant substance abuse or mental health problems that prevent them from staying in the workforce or in training.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
Appropriation of these monies may qualify for maintenance of effort requirements for the federal TANF block grant.
ADMINISTRATIVE IMPLICATIONS
Administration of these monies is within the budgeted capacity of the Department of Health.
