SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
This bill provides a general fund appropriation to LGD to provide rural addressing for the residents of the Mexican Springs area in McKinley county.
Significant Issues
According to LGD, the "State Enhanced 911 fund provided a grant of $117.1 to McKinley county to do addressing for the county excluding Navajo Nation lands within the county boundaries over a three year period." This bill will help that effort to obtain addressing for the Mexican Springs area.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The bill makes a $15.0 general fund appropriation to LGD for expenditure in FY2000 for the purpose stated above. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of FY2000 reverts to the general fund.
OTHER SUBSTANTIVE ISSUES
LGD noted in its analysis that McKinley county did not receive sufficient funds to address all of the Navajo Reservation lands.
