SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
House Bill 112 appropriates $200.0 from the general fund to the Human Services Department to contract with a national laboratory to train and employ participants of the New Mexico Works Act.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The general fund appropriation will count as maintenance of effort for the federal Temporary Assistance to Needy Families block grant.
ADMINISTRATIVE IMPLICATIONS
The Human Services Department currently has a contract with Los Alamos National Laboratories to train and employ participants of the New Mexico Works Act, therefore, no administrative impact will occur.
CONFLICT/DUPLICATION/COMPANIONSHIP/RELATIONSHIP
Senate Bill 2 contains appropriations to meet the state's maintenance of effort (MOE) for the federal Temporary Assistance to Needy Families block grant. Therefore, House Bill 112 will increase the general fund appropriations for MOE above the minimum needed.
POSSIBLE QUESTIONS
1. If House Bill 112 is not passed, does the Human Services Department intend to continue its contract with the Los Alamos National Laboratories?
