Synopsis of Bill



House Bill 109 appropriates $100.0 to SDE for the purpose of determining the feasibility of creating a public secondary school for the arts in Espanola in Rio Arriba County.



FISCAL IMPLICATIONS



House Bill 109 appropriates $100.0 from the general fund to State Department of Public Education for expenditure in fiscal year 2000. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2000 shall revert to the general fund.



ADMINISTRATIVE IMPLICATIONS



According to SDE, this project could be accomplished with existing staff. The department indicates that they do not have the expertise for this project so they will issue a Request For Proposal (RFP) and contract with an outside entity to determine the feasibility of a school for the arts in Espanola.
