Synopsis of Bill



House Bill 47 amends Section 30-16-2 NMSA 1978 to broaden the definition of robbery to include retention immediately after a theft of anything of value from another person or the immediate control

of another person by use or threatened use of force or violence.



Significant Issues



House Bill 47 may cause a greater number of persons to be charged with and sentenced for the crime of robbery.
