THROUGHOUT THE STATE.

I request that the following capital outlay projects be funded:

to the commission on higher education

two hundred seven thousand eight hundred dollars ($207,800) for equipment to expand off-campus access at New Mexico state university;

five hundred twenty-five thousand dollars ($525,000) to eastern New Mexico university to purchase replacement administrative system components through the New Mexico council for higher education computer services consortium contract;

five hundred twenty-five thousand dollars ($525,000) to New Mexico highlands university to purchase replacement administrative system components through the New Mexico council for higher education computer services consortium contract;

five hundred twenty-five thousand dollars ($525,000) to New Mexico institute of mining and technology to purchase replacement administrative system components through the New Mexico council for higher education computer services consortium contract;

one hundred eighty thousand dollars ($180,000) to purchase equipment to expand the interactive television video microwave system at eastern New Mexico university;

one hundred fifty-two thousand dollars ($152,000) to upgrade the network wiring at the Espanola and El Rito campuses of northern New Mexico state school;

forty-seven thousand dollars ($47,000) for fiber switches to upgrade the campus network at New Mexico junior college;

forty-seven thousand dollars ($47,000) for servers to consolidate and enhance network support at New Mexico junior college;

four hundred thirty-three thousand five hundred dollars ($433,500) for equipment to enhance the campus network and support the creation of a New Mexico "gigapop", a more efficient electronic data distribution network;

six hundred seventy-five thousand dollars ($675,000) for equipment to upgrade the campus network infrastructure at New Mexico state university;

five hundred twenty-five thousand dollars ($525,000) to western New Mexico university to purchase replacement administrative system components through the New Mexico council for higher education computer services consortium contract;

five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) for Santa Fe community college to replace the existing administrative information system through the New Mexico council for higher education computer services consortium contract;

one hundred fifty-nine thousand dollars ($159,000) for tele-video-conferencing equipment at New Mexico state university in Alamogordo as part of the connecting rural schools project in Otero county;

nine hundred thirty-three thousand six hundred eighty dollars ($933,680) for the university of New Mexico health sciences center to establish a new office of education outreach to coordinate and expand services;

three hundred eighty-seven thousand dollars ($387,000) to expand and upgrade the campus network, install a video-conferencing system and replace equipment at the New Mexico school for the deaf;

one hundred twenty-five thousand nine dollars ($125,009) to replace fifty personal computers at western New Mexico university to ensure year 2000 compliance;

one hundred two thousand dollars ($102,000) to replace personal computers and printers in the student computer laboratories at New Mexico junior college to ensure year 2000 compliance;

forty-nine thousand nine hundred eighty dollars ($49,980) to replace personal computers at Mesa technical college to ensure year 2000 compliance;

three hundred fifty-five thousand three hundred sixty dollars ($355,360) for video-conferencing equipment at each of the two northern New Mexico state school campuses and local high school sites;

three hundred fifty-seven thousand five hundred dollars ($357,500) for extended learning equipment at New Mexico highlands university, including a satellite uplink and a multipoint controller unit, to provide additional programming and expanded access;

three hundred eighty-six thousand eight hundred dollars ($386,800) for the instructional television project at western New Mexico university;

one hundred ten thousand dollars ($110,000) to replace equipment used in the interactive television and tele-college programs;

two hundred seventy-seven thousand three hundred thirty-three dollars ($277,333) to provide video-conferencing equipment at San Juan college and local high schools as part of the educational tele-video-conferencing network project; and

one hundred forty-one thousand five hundred dollars ($141,500) for Clovis community college to expand the existing administrative information system.
