RELATING TO HEALTH; ESTABLISHING SCHOOL-BASED HEALTH CLINICS AS MEDICAID PROVIDERS.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
Section 1. A NEW SECTION OF THE PUBLIC ASSISTANCE ACT IS ENACTED TO READ:
"[NEW MATERIAL] SCHOOL-BASED HEALTH CLINICS--MEDICAID REIMBURSEMENT.--
A. Consistent with the federal act and subject to appropriation and availability of federal and state funds, the medical assistance division of the human services department may by rule provide medical assistance to school-age children through school-based and school-linked health centers and shall establish school-based clinics and school-linked health center as providers in the medicaid program.
B. The department shall establish rates of reimbursement for various services provided by the school-based clinics and school-linked health centers.
C. For purposes of this section, "school-linked health center" means a facility providing health services, including a primary care clinic, a practitioner's office or a federally qualified health center located off school property but in a reasonable proximity to a public school and offering health services to school-age children."
