AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO REDUCE THE PUBLIC HEALTH THREAT OF THE HUMAN IMMUNODEFICIENCY VIRUS.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--

A. Two million dollars ($2,000,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the department of health for expenditure in fiscal year 2000 for the purpose of providing statewide services for persons with the human immunodeficiency virus, in the following amounts for the following purposes:

(1) three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000) to provide medication adherence case management;

(2) seven hundred thousand dollars ($700,000) to develop a statewide rural public health care system for persons with the human immunodeficiency virus;

(3) three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000) to provide information and services to New Mexico youth with the human immunodeficiency virus; and

(4) seven hundred thousand dollars ($700,000) to provide supplemental prevention information and services for women and minority populations.

B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2000 shall revert to the general fund.
