Your CORPORATIONS & TRANSPORTATION COMMITTEE, to whom has been referred



SENATE BILL 372



has had it under consideration and reports same WITHOUT RECOMMENDATION, amended as follows:



1. On page 1, line 15, after the dash insert the subsection designation "A.".



2. On page 1, line 16, strike "to the public" and strike lines 17 through 21 in their entirety and on line 22, strike "presentation." and insert in lieu thereof:



"for the following purposes:



(1) four hundred thousand dollars ($400,000) to the public regulation commission for expenditure in fiscal years 2000 and 2001 for the purpose of conducting a comprehensive rate case of operations and rates in the state of any telecommunications corporation that has more than one hundred thousand local exchange access lines in this state, including the employment or retention of experts to assist commission staff in the investigation and case presentation; and



(2) one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) to the office of the attorney general for expenditure in fiscal years 2000 and 2001 for the retention of an expert to assist that office in preparing and presenting the interests of residential and small business consumers in the state in the comprehensive rate case of operations and rates in the state of any telecommunications corporation that has more than one hundred thousand local exchange access lines in this state.".



3. On page 1, line 22, before "Any" insert the subsection designation "B.",



and further recommends that it now be referred to the JUDICIARY COMMITTEE.
