MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO FUND VARIOUS DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH PROGRAMS FOR THE DEVELOPMENTALLY DISABLED.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--
A. Three million eight hundred fifty-seven thousand forty-nine dollars ($3,857,049) is appropriated from the general fund to the department of health for expenditure in fiscal year 2000 for the following purposes and amounts:
(1) one million dollars ($1,000,000) for increased salaries of direct care staff providing services through developmental disability, disabled and elderly and medically fragile children medicaid waiver programs;
(2) four hundred twenty-two thousand five hundred dollars ($422,500) for caregivers' criminal history screening costs for background checks;
(3) three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000) for the cost of mandated national accreditation of department of health administered developmental disabilities community-based programs;
(4) five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) for continued implementation of the certified medication aides program for developmental disabilities medicaid waiver services;
(5) one million three hundred eighty-four thousand five hundred forty-nine dollars ($1,384,549) for cost-of-living increases, as calculated using the health care finance administration basket index inflation factor, in developmental disabilities community-based services; and
(6) two hundred fifty thousand dollars ($250,000) for contracts for developmental disability services statewide.
B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2000 shall revert to the general fund.
