MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO GATHER DATA ON THE HEALTH EFFECTS OF URANIUM MINING ON CERTAIN URANIUM MINE WORKERS.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One hundred fifty thousand dollars ($150,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the New Mexico office of Indian affairs for expenditure in fiscal year 2000 for the purpose of contracting with an organization in Shiprock to gather data and identify the effects of uranium mining on uranium mine workers in northwest New Mexico. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2000 shall revert to the general fund.
