AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO PROVIDE AUDITORY ORAL EDUCATION AND FOLLOW-UP TREATMENT TO COCHLEAR-IMPLANTED DEAF STUDENTS.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the department of health for expenditure in fiscal year 2000 to contract with a medical-educational institution that provides intensive specialized auditory oral education to provide auditory oral education and follow-up treatment to deaf students who have been treated surgically with multi-channel cochlear implants. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2000 shall revert to the general fund.
