AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR CULTURAL SENSITIVITY TRAINING FOR PERSONNEL OF THE CHILDREN, YOUTH AND FAMILIES DEPARTMENT AND TO IMPLEMENT OTHER PROGRAMS TO PROVIDE CULTURALLY COMPETENT SERVICES TO INCARCERATED NATIVE AMERICAN CHILDREN.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Forty thousand dollars ($40,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the children, youth and families department for expenditure in fiscal year 2000 for the purpose of providing cultural sensitivity training for personnel of that department and to implement other programs to provide culturally competent services to incarcerated Native American children. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2000 shall revert to the general fund.
