AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC EDUCATION TO DEVELOP CITIZEN PREPARATION CURRICULA.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the state department of public education for expenditure in fiscal year 2000 for the purpose of developing curricula relating to citizen participation in government and teacher training and providing assistance to students participating in programs that develop students' awareness of the United States constitution. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2000 shall revert to the general fund.
