Your BUSINESS AND INDUSTRY COMMITTEE, to whom has been referred

HOUSE BILL 560

has had it under consideration and reports same with recommendation that it DO PASS, amended as follows:

1. On pages 1 through 3, strike Section 1 in its entirety.

2. Renumber succeeding sections accordingly.

3. On page 5, lines 17 and 18, remove the brackets and line through "under the general supervision of a dentist".

4. On page 6, lines 14 and 15, remove the brackets and line through "under indirect supervision of a dentist" and on line 15, strike the quotation mark.

5. On page 6, between lines 15 and 16, insert the following new subsections:

"D. A dental hygienist may be certified for collaborative dental hygiene practice in accordance with the educational and experience criteria established collaboratively by the committee and board. The board may charge a fee not to exceed one hundred fifty dollars ($150) for each application for certification for collaborative dental hygiene practice.

E. For the purpose of this section, "collaborative practice of dental hygiene" means the science of the prevention and treatment of oral disease through the provision of educational, assessment, preventive, clinical and other therapeutic services as specified in Subsection B of this section in a cooperative working relationship with a consulting dentist, but without general supervision, as set forth by the rules jointly established by the board and the committee."".
