MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO FUND A TEACHER RECRUITMENT AND PREPARATION PROGRAM.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the board of regents of the university of New Mexico for expenditure in fiscal year 2000 for the purpose of funding a teacher recruitment and preparation program that focuses on recruiting high school students who have the interest and aptitude to become teachers, provides summer training and involves family members in the students' process of becoming teaching professionals. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2000 shall revert to the general fund.
