RELATING TO THE PUBLIC PEACE, HEALTH, SAFETY AND WELFARE; PROVIDING FOR THE ISSUANCE OF GENERAL EDUCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT DIPLOMAS TO CERTAIN PERSONS.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. A new section of the Public School Code is enacted to read:

"GENERAL EDUCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT CERTIFICATES.--The department of education shall issue a general educational development certificate to any candidate who is at least sixteen years of age and who has successfully completed the

general educational development tests."
