AN ACT

RELATING TO COUNTIES; REQUIRING ELECTED COUNTY OFFICIALS IN CLASS A, B AND C COUNTIES TO WORK FULL TIME.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. COUNTY OFFICIALS--MINIMUM WORK HOURS.--

A. A county clerk, treasurer, assessor or sheriff in a class A, B or C county with an annual salary of thirty-five thousand dollars ($35,000) or more shall work full time and keep his own records.

B. As used in this section, "full time" means holding office hours a minimum of forty hours per week.

Section 2. EFFECTIVE DATE.--The effective date of the provisions of this act is January 1, 2000.
