A JOINT MEMORIAL

HONORING THE LATE ARTHUR B. JARAMILLO OF THE TOWN OF BERNALILLO.



WHEREAS, Arthur B. Jaramillo, a life-long resident of Bernalillo, died on Thursday, January 14, 1999; and

WHEREAS, he was awarded three distinguished service medals for his World War II service in the United States navy; and

WHEREAS, he was one of only fifty-nine sailors to survive when the Japanese torpedoed the U.S.S. Mississinewa; and

WHEREAS, his extensive public service included holding the chairmanship of the Sandoval county democratic party; and

WHEREAS, he served the public both as an elected justice of the peace in Sandoval county and as Bernalillo municipal police judge; and

WHEREAS, he retired with twenty-seven years with the New Mexico timber company and was owner of Arturo's package liquors; and

WHEREAS, he will be especially remembered for his pride in and love of his children; and

WHEREAS, he is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Consuelo; five children, Prudence, Arthur, Elizabeth, Theresa and Conny; seven grandchildren; his sister Maclovia; and brothers Pete and Herman;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that condolences be extended to the friends and family of an outstanding and devoted New Mexican, Arthur B. Jaramillo; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be sent to his wife and children.
